Hi Ho, Hi Ho...It's Back To New York I Go

Okay, once wasn't I'm off to New York for closing weekend in June.  While he's in this country, I might as well get my fill of him.

Someone had asked about the itinerary...unfortunately I whimped out and didn't get to do too much of it (buy hey, I was in NY to see Kevin Spacey).  I DID go to Wall Street, Ellis Island, Ground Zero, MET Museum, MOMA Museum, Top of the Rock, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and the Bodies Exhibition plus ate at Joe Allen's - not too bad!!!

Marlene and I went to the theatre where "Wicked" was playing and put our names in the lottery for tickets - we each put in for 2, well.......they ended up calling BOTH our names, so we had first row center seats for that evening at only $26.50 a piece.  Since they called both our names, I dropped out to give someone else a chance.  The play was fabulous and if you can get tickets - GO FOR IT!!!

Here's some more pictures of Kevin:

I still can't believe I was THAT CLOSE to him!!!

We saw the play in previews. Kevin's performance was outstanding! He's been my favorite actor for many years, and he was exactly as I had pictured him. Got his autograph and pics afterwards. Eve Best was absolutely amazing, also. I hope she wins the Tony and was sorry that he wasn't nominated. Next time in NYC don't miss the Strand bookstore, 12th and Broadway. Its 18 miles of books are worth a trip in itself.

For those that have been asking...yes, KevieBear got his picture with Kevin Spacey!!!

At the Saturday matinee after the stage door crowd started to thin out, I approached the man and said "Can I ask a favor?" He said "Sure" without looking up from his signing. I said "Will you have your picture taken with the driving mr. spacey bear?" He got this cute little grin on his face, looked up and said "I'd be delighted." He took the bear, read his button ("I was mooned on Broadway"), laughed, posed and handed him back saying "I hope he has a safe journey home."

    What A Guy!!!

      I'm Back........

So I'm finally home and getting back into the swing of things...

      The Play

Some of you have been asking about the play.  The play was fabulous and not just because Kevin was in it.  All the actors were great.  Eve Best has just been nominated for a Tony for her part - she's going to be VERY well known soon.

I love Kevin in this play.  He goes through so many emotions during it, when he's breaking down you just want to get up out of your seat and go comfort him - it's heart wrenching.

I liked it so much that I bought another ticket while I was there and saw it 3 times rather than 2 AND I'm going back for closing weekend and seeing it 2 more times.

What can I say?  It's the city that never sleeps, come to think of it - I'm still trying to catch up on sleep.  I absolutely LOVE big cities.

      The Plane

This was my very first plane ride and I adored it.  Wasn't nervous or scared at all.  And the airports?  They were very easy to navigate through.

      The Spacey Fans

Well, I have no complaints here.  C'mon now, did ya think I'd have a complaint?

He's wonderful and so down to earth.  There's no "Hollywood" about him.  He's regular and very appreciative of his fans.  You're very comfortable around him.

I've Been To The Moon And Back

Just got home and am extremely tired. I have lots to tell but I'll tell the "main event" right now!!!!

My husband owns and operates a screenprinting/embroidery shop and he and I designed a "Moon For The Misbegotten" long-sleeved t-shirt for Kevin and a hat that said "Got Moon?". (Sorry, everyone - they are not for sale, in the card I told Kevin it was a one of a kind original and no one else had one).

Thursday, May 10th I went to the stage door with the gift bag. I wanted to be up front at the barricade in order to give it to him personally. The one Security Guard saw me and asked me who I was giving it to and I told him Kevin. He explained that Kevin is unable to accept gifts that are not cleared through security first and I wasn't able to do that. However, he said he would be more than happy to take the bag backstage to the room where things are inspected. So, of course, I handed it over to security. When he came back out, I explained that it was a one-of-a-kind specially made gift and I really wanted him to have it. The Security guard admitted that he himself had already "peaked" in the bag and I needn't worry. In the meantime another security guard came out with a thumbs up that the bag had cleared.

On Saturday, May 12th, we went back to the stage door to wait for Kevin. We noticed the one Security guard carry a few items to Kevin's car - I immediately saw my gift bag and got excited!!! What a slice of heaven - he apparently likes the gift as he's taking it with him!!! Joanne said that I would probably be receiving a thank you card soon!!!

Well, when Kevin came out the stage door HE WAS WEARING THE SHIRT!!! I was right there and said "That's my shirt!!" He said "Did you get me this shirt?" I said "Yes" He said "I LOVE this shirt!!!" So I asked him to pose for a picture, which he willingly did...then I asked for one of he and I, which he replied "Sure, come here..." I was able to cross the barricade to HIS side and put my arms around him as he did me!!! While Joanne took an enormously loooooooong time to take the picture (thanks for that sweetie - it was worth the wait).

      What a night...........

      When Satan Enters A Church

The Bible teaches that we should always be on the lookout for Satan as he exist everywhere hoping to take us away from God.

Over at Knitten' Kittens this post recently appeared .  To understand this, you must first know the history leading up to it.  Christ Lutheran Church is the church I grew up in and went to during my early adult life.  CLC (as I"ll refer to it) has alot of history with generations of families attending.  However, in the past few years Satan did enter this church causing a split (just as he intended to) which caused a good portion of the attenders to leave and start they're own church Christ Community Church (CCC).

The issue was that the CCC's no longer wanted to be affiliated with the ELCA.  CCC claimed that the ELCA no longer followed Biblical standards.  The ELCA believed in abortion and gay rights and did not believe the Bible as the Word of God.  CCC wanted to leave the ELCA and become a Independent Lutheran Church.  I don't need to tell you this got ugly - Satan definately was working in this church and he was enjoying it.  In the end the CCC lost and as I stated above left and started their own church.

I can't help but wonder that had the CCC won that day, how would CLC have changed?  Would there still be a traditional service and a contemporary one?  I think there would of been.  Would the traditional service be the same as it is now?  I think it would be.  I don't think anything would of changed regardless how the vote would of went.  So the only issue is this ELCA thing.

I went to the ELCA site.  Here's what ELCA believes:

      1. This church confesses the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
      2. This church confesses Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and the Gospel as the power of God for the salvation of all who believe
          -  Jesus Christ is the Word of God incarnate, through whom
everything was made and through whose life, death, and
resurrection God fashions a new creation.
          -  The proclamation of God's message to us as both Law and Gospel
is the Word of God, revealing judgment and mercy through word
and deed, beginning with the Word in creation, continuing in the
history of Israel, and centering in all its fullness in the person and
             work of Jesus Christ.
          -  The canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the
written Word of God. Inspired by God's Spirit speaking through
their authors, they record and announce God's revelation centering
in Jesus Christ.  Through them God's Spirit speaks to us to create
and sustain Christian faith and fellowship for service in the

      3. This church accepts the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of its proclamation, faith, and life.
      4. This church accepts the Apostles', Nicene, and Athanasian Creeds as true declarations of the faith of this church.
      5. This church accepts the Unaltered Augsburg Confession as a true witness to the Gospel, acknowledging as one with it In faith and doctrine all churches that likewise accept the teachings of the Unaltered Augsburg Confession.
      6. This church accepts the other confessional writings in the Book of Concord, namely, the Apology of the Augsburg Confession, the Smalcald Articles and the Treatise, the Small Catechism, the Large Catechism, and the Formula of Concord, as further valid interpretations of the faith of the Church.
      7. This church confesses the Gospel, recorded in the Holy Scriptures and confessed in the ecumenical creeds and Lutheran confessional writings, as the power of God to create and sustain the Church for God's mission in the world.

I highlighted number "3" as the CCC claimed the ELCA does not accept the Bible as God's word.  Hmmmm....wonder what site they were actually looking at when they found their information?  Certainly not the above "official" site.  For a more detailed understanding of how they view the Bible - you can read here: .  Interested in their standing on Gay Issues - go here: .
      Abortion?  Go here: .

I don't know about anyone else but I don't want to be part of a congregation that shuns the homosexuals or the woman that had an abortion.  These are issues that exist in the world today and the church must be prepared to deal with them.  So I don't think it was wrong that the ELCA tried to find a common ground.  We can't spread God's Word to these people if we turn our backs on them.  We're to teach the Gospel to everyone, not just a select few.

But what struck me most about the comment left at KnittenKittens was this: "We did not want to stay in a church where the Word of God wasn't considered infallible by all."  "INFALLIBLE", of course, means that CLC doesn't believe and we know that is an untrue statement.  Neither side is "infallible" and I can do no more then prayer for this unknown person that made such a hateful and judgemental comment (God knows who you are, so he'll see that my prayer gets through).  And Kim's blog is just that - KIM'S BLOG - she can write and say whatever she would like and you should offer her that respect, after all she very respectfully let you voice your opinion there when she easily could of just deleted it.  And if you don't like her blog - don't read it.  The same policy goes for mine.

I'm going to leave everyone today with 1 Corinthians 1:10:

"I beg you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves.  Let there be real harmony so that there won't be splits in the church.  I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose." (LB Version).
