29 Days and I'll be in Myrtle Beach!!  I absolutely love the beach and Myrtle Beach is my favorite!  Hubby and I go every year....BUT.....

Hubby can't go this year due to his new job, but I still wanted to go and planned on it.  My Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother-in-law will be there too only coming in the next day and staying at an entirely different hotel.

So am I scare to make the 9+ hour drive there all by myself??? OF COURSE NOT!!  And as it turns out, I don't have to as I'm not going by myself - CC just got the approval at work today so she can go with me!!  YAY!!

So I've been sharing some of my "musts" with her (and now with everyone here):

Captain George's Seafood - we use to do our all you can eat at Hook's Calabash Seafood (and I do still recommend them) but for a few bucks more you can get so much more at Captain George's.

Liberty Steakhouse At Broadway At The Beach - This has been my favorite since the very first visit....sometimes we eat there more than once.

Joe's Crab Shack - Just tried this for the first time last year, LOVED IT!!

I also want to try to go see Pirates Voyage if at all possible.  CC has not been to Ripley's Aquarium which is great and we both enjoy Alligator Adventure, so we may do that again.  The movie theater is a Carmike, so our popcorn bucket can go along!!  I was disappointed to read that the IMAX Theatre is now closed, I always enjoyed that when there was nothing else to do!

Also want to go to the newly opened Baker's Dog.  They use to be open, then closed and are now re-opened.  My dogs love their bagels!!

I hate to wish summer away, but I'm getting so anxious for vacation!!

Decisions, Decisions....

A few weeks back (if you remember the post), CC, Josh, Becky and I had been yard selling and stopped at the small festival at the local Humane Society and I met this guy:

Jolan is his name and I've thought of him a lot.  He's somewhere between 1-2 years old and extremely friendly.  We bonded and since hubby didn't really say yes or no, I've taken that as a yes.  I've always, since I was little, had a black cat.  Sebastian was black but unfortunately we had to have him put down back in December.  So I've been looking.

Though I know from the Humane Society's FB page that Jolan was still available the following week (though he doesn't appear on their available cat listing - guess they can't list them all).  I've put it off as not to make a rash decision.  I don't know if Jolan is still there or not at this point...but I noticed this on their listing the other day:

Sprinter!  He's a kitten - but aren't his markings GORGEOUS?????!!!!  Now what do I do???  Hope that when I get there, one is already adopted???  Or go with the one (Jolan) that since is older has the least chance of being adopted???  Meet Sprinter to see if we bond??  And the Humane Society only has day hours so hubby can't make it any open day...and the one day he has off - they are closed!  So he can't even help with the decision.

Decisions, Decisions....

This week I lost my brother-in-law Greg.  He will be greatly missed.

It's hard to lose someone and then write about them.  Greg is married to my oldest sister Sharon.  Greg was an outdoors person enjoying hunting, fishing and camping.  He was an avid NY Yankee fan, golfer and republican.  He was very strong minded when it came to his opinions and couldn't understand why everyone else didn't agree with him - lol!  And he loved my sister more than anything in the world.

Sometimes Life Just Deals Bad Hands

Today is Monday....Mondays are never good.

This week I'm staying at CC's while she's on vacation.  This involves watching the dog and cat plus taking care of things at my house; plus there's one person at work on vacation.

I get to work at around 7:30 a.m.  While walking across the parking lot I thought I heard my cell phone ring.  When I got to my office, I pulled it out and realized my one sister had called me about 7 times already this morning.  That's never one calls this early unless there's an emergency.

And there was, my oldest sister Sharon's husband had died.  He had been having some heart related issues the past few weeks, but we certainly didn't expect him to die.  It's very sad.

I'm so emotionally and physically drained today......  :(

This & That!!

So I was very successful with weight loss last week, I lost 2.8 lbs.!!!  YAY!!  It's been a long time since I've seen that much of a loss.  Must continue on though.

Starting tomorrow I"ll be at CC's house for a week while she and her family head to Wildwood & Cape May  in New Jersey.  Hopefully this year I won't break any perfume bottles - lol!!

Still somewhat upset over the whole Lennox thing.....I know nothing can change that, but I'm so amazed over the ignorance of people.  I want everyone to know despite the fact that I think the BCC was totally wrong in this case - I do not support the people who have resorted to threats and violence towards the BCC.  We need to move on people, get the laws changed!

Lennox Died Today...

Lennox died today (or somewhere between now and the past 2 years, guess we'll never know for sure) despite the efforts of thousands of people.

Animal psychic Joanne Hull flew to Belfast last night so she could meet with the BCC before the scheduled 7:00 a.m. euthanizing.  They actually let her in, held a cordial conversation with her, agree to work on a solution to the issue, shook her hand and sent her out the door with hope.  During the time this conversation went on, behind the scenes, Lennox was put to sleep and the BCC issued a statement to the press.

That's how cruel and insensitive these people are.

The family was not allowed to see him, they will not get his body to bury, they won't even give them his collar - they may receive some ashes in the mail.

This is a very tragic ending to a very disheartening story.

I light my candle of Hope again tonight, Hope that in Lennox's death awareness of the cruelty and misinformation that Breed Specific Legislation causes.  Hopefully Lennox's Law will come to light and save the lives of other dogs.  Many prayers to the Barnes Family tonight - may God give you peace.

Lennox the dog is scheduled to be euthanized later tonight despite protests, petitions and offers to re-home him to the United States.  Only a miracle can save him now.

What was Lennox's crime?  2 years ago during a dog license check, Lennox a 5 year old Bulldog/Labrador mix, was seized by Belfast City Council Wardens from his loving family and kennel mates despite there never being any complaints about him.  His crime?  He LOOKS like a pit bull which is against the law.  You can read in more detail here:  Save Lennox.

For the past two years Lennox's family has fought the legal system to have their dog returned. Lennox has been kept in an undisclosed location during this time, though some photos leaked out which show the horrible conditions he is living in - which adds even more misery to the story.

This past week Lennox's family ran out of all the legal options they had to have him returned.  In turn Victoria Stilwell of the TV show It's Me or The Dog, has offered to re-home Lennox to the U.S.A. free of charge.  Doesn't look like that will be happening either.  The family would like his remains to bury...they've been told no but they may get his ashes back.

Is Lennox even alive?  Is Lennox in such poor health they don't want the world to see what he's become?  Why else deny the family the actual remains??

I light a candle and say a prayer for Lennox tonight.  Whether he's still alive or already gone Lennox's name will live on as the "poster child" and as solid proof that Breed Specific Legislation fails in so many ways.

Since you'll never be forgotten
We pledge to you today
A hallowed place within our hearts
Is where you'll always stay.

Another Good Day!

Yesterday went Weight Watchers well ...ended my day with a bowl of Chili Mac (6 pts.) and later Vanilla Thrilla from Hungry Girl - she lists this as 3 pts., but the online point tracker gives me 2 pts.  Either way I ended up with either 25 or 26 daily points for the day.  I've done very well this weekend - haven't used any weeklies yet!!

Weekends are definitely my bad days...I just way over eat.  It must be because during the week, I work and am on a schedule.  Weekends are a free for all.  So you can see why I'm excited to get through Thursday and Friday without over extending myself!

This morning I opted for:

2 eggs over easy cooked in 1 tsp oil - 5 pts.
2 slices of toast - 3 pts.
1 cup of milk - 2 pts.
Banana - 0 pts.

Used 9 pts. for breakfast, which is a lot for me.  HOWEVER, Sundays are dinner at my parents and my mother cooks a lot of unhealthy things.  So I thought eating more this morning, will make me less hungry there.

Glad I have some Chili Mac leftover from last night so I can have it with a salad at lunch tomorrow.  I'm really hoping to keep things going as is and to see if it makes a difference at weigh-in this week.

In case you're wondering...I weighed in at 159 lbs. last week - 13 pounds OVER GOAL!!  So you can see my urgency to get back on track!

The Walking Dead marathon continues......

Back On Track!

So yesterday began my "getting back on track" with Weight Watchers.  I actually did very well!  My menu for the day was:

1 pack of low sugar instant oatmeal made with water - 3 pts.
1 cup of skim milk - 2 pts.
1 banana - 0 pts.

1 Low Fat Waffle - 2 pts.
1 Tbl. of sugar free syrup - 0 pts. (yep, the sugar free syrups sweetened with Splenda are only 1 pt. for 1/4 cup!)
1 apple

Dannon Light & Fit Orange Bliss Yogurt - 2 pts.
Chiquita Bites Pack - Carrots with ranch dip - 1 pt. (the Weight Watcher tracker will tell you these are 2 pts. however the label and my calculator say differently)
Chiquita Bites Pineapple - 1 pt. (technically this is probably 0 pts. but since I was eating fruit left and right yesterday, I decided to take the point)
Chiquita Bites Apple Slices with caramel dip - 2 pts.

I just happened to come across the Chiquita Bites packs when I stopped in the store on my way to work so I grabbed a few.  Very convenient!  There also is an Apple Slice with a different type of dip that comes in at 1 pt.  I found these at Weis Market, I was unable to find any at Giant/Martins or Food Lion in my area.  They are in the produce section.

For Dinner, Hubby and I went to The Velvet Cafe in Waynesboro, PA.  We eat here a lot.  I had the Roast Turkey Dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn.  I kind of rounded everything up high to calculate points - whole dinner came to 13 points.

So my whole day was the 26 daily points!

This morning I got up and made an Oatmeal Pancake. I make mine with an actual egg so it comes in at 4 pts. rather than the 3 pts. with egg beater.  I topped it with a banana (0 pt.) and 1/4 cup of sugar free syrup (1 pt.) then added 1 cup of skim milk (2 pts.) for a total of 8 pts. for Breakfast:

It was very yummy!!

For Lunch I'm planning on a Turkey Burger on low calorie bun (6 pts.), 15 light Pringles (2 pts.), 1/2 cup canned peas (1 pt.) and Grapes (0 pts.).  Dinner tonight will be Whole Wheat Chili Mac.

Very hot and humid today - high is to be 108 degrees!!!  So I'm spending the day in front of the tv watching The Walking Dead marathon on AMC.  Yeah, I've seen them all - but I LOVE IT!!

Ho Hum....

I'm failing heavily in the diet department and I'm not liking it.

One thing I've always advised everyone with when it comes to losing weight is that your head must be in the right place.  Mine hasn't been there in a while and things are going haywire!!

I'm about 12 lbs. over goal and really need some motivation to get rid of that.  If I keep moving in the direction I'm now going it will become 15, 20, 25....and just keep increasing.  I need to do something NOW!!

I really wish Weight Watchers would offer meetings for their Lifetime members.  Maintaining is so much harder than the losing part.

Long, Tiring Day.....

Saturday was a long and tiring day.  At 8:00 CC, Josh, Becky and I headed to the Flamingo for breakfast then off to yard sales.  It was extremely hot!

After the yard sales we decided to drive over to the Antietam Humane Society for their very first festival.  There were a good many people there and a few booths but that should grow over the years.  We went inside to look at the animals.  As with most Humane Societies, SPCA's and Rescues - the place is over run with the most adorable kittens you can imagine:

After visiting the dogs (which is very heartbreaking), I wandered into the adult cat room and met this:

I was looking at some other cats and kept feeling something tapping my leg - it was him.  BEAUTIFUL!  I sent a text to hubby with photo and told him I was IN LOVE.  He asked where it was - that's it.  No I didn't come home with it, but I may re-check to see if he's still there next week.

After the Humane Society we headed to True Value Pets to look at their puppies.  CC fell in love with this:

It's a Pug/Puggle mix and she's absolutely adorable!!  They were even willing to let CC take her home for a test run...but CC's hubby wasn't ready for that.  She is a cutie though.

Hubby and I went to The Ott House in Emmitsburg for dinner later to celebrate our anniversary.  Service was great but the food just isn't as good as it use to be.

Long tiring day!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is my 12 Year Anniversary - Time Sure Does Fly!
