Long Holiday Weekend

I had a long weekend......  one because we had a holiday thus lengthening the weekend an additional day, plus I took Friday off and made it a 4 dayer!!

But it was exhausting....

I had decided that my rabbit Olivia wasn't getting the attention she should be getting and thus found her a new home with a co-worker.  It's rather bittersweet, I miss her so much; but I knew it was for the best.  Sad for me but best for her.  So far she is adjusting well to her new home.

Our dining room had somewhat become the rabbit/turtle/computer room.  Our house is very small and what is considered the dining room really isn't functional as a dining room; though it would make a nice sitting room.  With Olivia now gone, I decided I wanted my huge desk from the upstairs brought down (we've kind of been changing the upstairs to just storage mostly because of the low ceiling and the fact that there is no heat/ac up there, though when we had guinea pigs we used space heaters and window ac).  The desk has 2 sides that attach together with a corner unit.  We knew the desk wouldn't fit with the corner unit; but measure showed we could "L" shape it.....well, kind of....

We brought the shorter pieced down and placed it along the shorter wall.  I moved all my computer stuff over on it.  We then brought down the larger piece.  We hadn't thought about the width of the desks.  The minute they were together it was obvious this wasn't going to work as the larger desk was now blocking the computer.  We moved things around several ways.  I finally decided on the larger piece running down the shorter wall (it just fits) and placed the computer on the end (rather than centering).  So now the shorter piece becomes the "arm" giving me work space.  Much more workable this way!  But the upstairs?  What a mess!!

Moving heavy furniture is exhausting!

Phase II

This evening I braved the thunderstorms and headed to Planet Fitness all by my lonesome for my appointment with Barry, who is the personal trainer.

CC and I have been doing the 30 minute circuit and then cardio; but we wanted some personalization.  Barry's the only personal trainer there and our appointments were made when we joined 2 weeks ago - he's very very busy.

Anyway I got there just in time and Barry and I sat down for my 15 minute appointment.

He went through my medical history and then asked me what I wanted.

I explained my weight loss through Weight Watchers, my 20 lb. gain back and how I would like to lose that 20 lbs. again plus tone up some of the saggy fat in the waist/stomach area.

Barry tells me if I follow his exercise plan and totally commit myself back to Weight Watchers, that 20 lbs. will be gone in 3 mos.!  WOW!!

So I'm totally committing myself back.  I'll be happy if 10 lbs. go away.

So Phase II is in full swing!

I realized that I've missed several things that I re-post about every year (highlights of my life); things have been way too busy.  So let's do a recap:

On March 22, 2008 I got this for Easter:

My baby Keyser Soze!!
So hard to believe it's been 5 years!  He's all grown up now of course:

On March 25, 2011, we got this:

Lucy Lu!
Two years later and she's still a bundle of energy:

On April 15, 2006, we got our first dog:
He's been such a joy and wow has the time flew by:

In May 2007 (I can't believe how long ago this has been) I met this guy:

Still such a highlight of my life!

Sometimes....My Opinion Differs...

I recently had a difference of opinion with someone in a FaceBook Spacey Fan Group....sort of.....

I can't really call it a difference of opinion...she was berating the guy based on her can you blame him for something you think????

Kevin had been in Boston visiting bombing victims, hospital workers, rescue workers and such....  just like lots of celebrities do when there is a tragedy such as this.  There were several CNN interviews with him while he was there.  I saw photos of Bradley Cooper visits as well, and a few others.

A particular person in the group decided in her opinion that Kevin was only there using the tragedy for his own gain. The reason she knew this?  Because he didn't hop a plane immediately when the bombing occurred.   It was a long post that was pointed out to me from another group member... I read the post a few times and tried to ignore it.  But I kept going back and each time I read it I got madder.

Even if that's what she thought he was doing, doesn't mean that it was.  On top of that she really wrote a nasty post as if that is and could only be the reason he was there.  In my opinion, unless you are Kevin or live in his head, you can't state that as fact nor can you berate him for something that is only in your opinion.

So....  I gave an opinion:

Having an opinion about his hair, what he's wearing, a movie, etc.. is one thing; however, assuming you know his motives is entirely different (no one here lives within his head).  Kevin has given back many times and supports many charities...just because he didn't hop the next plane the minute the bomb went off didn't mean he didn't care (the man does have a life, he doesn't just sit waiting on things to happen) nor does it mean he's using it as a publicity stunt.  Having an opinion is one thing...pushing it off as fact is a different story.

In addition to this, I unfriended her.  Okay, the unfriending may have been over the top....but you can imagine the chaos it caused.

The person in question, deleted her post and left the group; but of course contacted another group member, who in turn posted what had happened.  She didn't use names, but you didn't have to be a genius to know who had disagreed with her and thus had unfriended her.  I stood behind my post, but so that she could come back, left the group.  It caused more chaos...I eventually ended back in the group but apparently she is gone for good and well, good riddance.  If you're that thin skinned perhaps social networking isn't for you.

I bring this up only because there were still some postings in the aftermath of how "everyone will not always agree" "people are entitled to their opinion" "it can't always be gushing over Kevin all the time"...  I totally agree with these statements.  Where the point is missed is that this had nothing to do with having a "difference of opinion" it had to do with bad mouthing the man for actions that are only in your opinion and not proven fact.

Understand the difference??

Zip List

Spunky Suzi introduced me to the website Zip List.  I'm all for making things easy, especially in the dieting world..this site works well for dieters and non-dieters alike.

Zip List does many things, but two of the best is it Recipes and Groceries lists.  Once you sign up, you can drag an icon onto your task bar and whenever you visit a site that has a recipe you want to keep, you just click the icon and it puts it in you account for future reference!!  No more searching and searching for where you saw that recipe - it will be in your account (and if it's a flop, you can delete it easily - lol).  You can also create your own recipes - it's a one stop shop.

Want to make one of those recipes?  Add it to your grocery list and all the items needed will show up there! You can add and delete items to it as well.  Even better???  They have a phone app, so no printing the grocery list, it will be right there on your phone!  And yes, you can still print it if you'd like.

This is a very useful site, so pop over and take a look!

Oh Yes I Did!!

Last night I joined a gym with CC!!

We walked into Planet Fitness In Chambersburg, PA and signed up!

That wasn't the initial plan......

I had called her earlier, left a message that I thought we should stop by the gym while we were up that way as they had a little special going on that the joiners fee was only $10.00 and that ENTIRE $10.00 would go to Breast Cancer Awareness; monthly fee varied depending on the plan you chose, either $10.00/month or $20.00/month.  She totally ignored my message at first; then called back later with a "Oh aren't you the funny girl" speech.  She did the same thing to me when I first mentioned Weight Watchers...anyway we ventured up to the gym.

The parking lot was PACKED; which was rather a turn off since this would be the time we'd normally be there; however once inside it didn't look nearly as crowded and there was plenty of unused equipment available.  We stopped at the desk and while we waited on a tour guide, glanced around.  I looked for several things that are important to me:

1.  Is it clean/welcoming?  It obviously was, no broken down equipment, brightly lit, calming colors.  Nothing blasting at you.

2.  Plenty of staff?  Yep, there were many; nothing can be worse then never being able to find a staff person.

3.  Clientele.  Who's in the gym?  It was my kind of people.  Nothing is more intimidating to me then trying to work out with those perfectly shaped size 0 women or body builders.  Nope, these were people just like me!

"Maria" gave us a very nice tour - explaining the different areas and equipment.  The differences between the plans (the $20.00/month gives you unlimited access to tanning, massage bed/chairs, red light therapy, you can bring a guest each time, etc.).  Needless to say we were impressed with the whole place.  "Maria" passed us off to the young man at the desk for pricing and such and to answer any additional questions we had.  There was no pressure what-so-ever when we told him we needed to sit down and discuss what we wanted to do.  We sat at a table and to my surprise CC had gone from "Aren't you the funny girl" to "I want the $20.00/month plan" - LOL!!  So we chose that plan mostly because of an interest in red light therapy and the massage bed/chairs (we'll never use tanning, blah).

So exercise is my next "weight loss" phase!!

Here Comes The Bride....

So the overnighter at the beach went very fast, but even so, I was glad to get home!  The wedding was beautiful though very windy and cold.  My niece looked gorgeous and she married a very handsome man.  Some photos:

The wedding took place on the beach in Ocean City, MD at 19th Street.  The reception was at Marina Deck.  If you are ever in the area I highly recommend the Marina Deck the food is outstanding!!  We all stayed at The Commander Hotel which was very nice.  Nice overnighter all around!!

Quick Update

I'm off to the beach tomorrow in Ocean City, MD for my niece's wedding on the beach!!!  Though just a short overnight trip, I will so be happy to see the beach again!  And I don't go back to work until Tuesday!

This week I had some shelving units removed from my office, so I was able to rearrange and spread out some more - was very much needed!!
