I'm Pointed Out!

My doctor's appointment yesterday resulted in my doctor wanting me to monitor my blood pressure for 3 months.  My pressure is normally, well....normal; why it was high yesterday I have no idea; but I'm getting a blood pressure monitor after work this evening and going to chart that for him for a 3 month period.

Course, weight was a conversation as well.  When I go back in 3 months, he wants 10 lbs. gone.
We discussed my Weight Watchers journey; I explained my hard time trying to maintain and my not being as "in it" as I was the first time around - he understood it, totally agreed it is hard and said that most people feel the same as I do.

I then was rattling about every time I see food, I immediately am calculating points in my head for it, I worry I'm overeating in restaurants because point values aren't in front of me and I'm guessing and I may be wrong....I actually told him their are days that I'm just pointed out.

He then gave me a piece of advice - "Then stop counting them."  I was astonished and told him that that was part of the program.  He then asked me had I learned anything else from WW other than to count points?  Of course, I had....I know a healthy selection from a non-healthy one; I know portion control is important and I know a lot more than just point counting!  He then advised me to continue to track what I'm eating; even continue with meetings and weigh-ins; but don't count the points.

Later, after discussing this with CC and thinking further; I realized what he was getting at.....  I was pointed out; in other words the point counting had become a full time job - I didn't know how to eat without a point value attached to it.

He gave me a prescription from that stress - "Stop Counting Them."

So I guess I need a notebook or some type of app that just counts nothing (otherwise I'll be thinking it through in my head).

He also advised that we aren't worrying over the WW weight guidelines; I need a weight I can maintain.  I'm to aim to lose 10 lbs. and then maintain there; then I can decide to go lower or stay - but we aren't going to force a certain weight...will let my body be the guide.

Am I headed for Weight Watchers graduation?????

I was up 6/10's at weigh in last night <<sigh>>.....

Lyfe or is it Life, No It Is LYFE

I was at the Dollar Tree yesterday and came across this product in the refrigerator section:

It comes to 7 points plus and I can say it looks almost exactly as the photo on the box.

I had never had steel-cut oats or quinoa but had heard great things about them.  I failed to see there was coconut in it though.

Anyway, I had it this morning.  The coconut was light enough that I didn't taste it (I despise coconut); the oats and quinoa were bland in  my opinion.  If you are someone that likes these, then your opinion would be different on this product for sure; but I definitely needed to have the fruit with every bite to give it some flavor.  I decided to get online, look up the company and see if there were other flavors.

As it so happens, there actually is a Lyfe Kitchen Restaurant Chain; none in my area - but there are some out there.  From that site I was directed to their grocery line (no longer called Lyfe):  Luvo
The change in the product name must be why I was able to find them at the Dollar Store (old packaging).

To my disappointment there are no other oatmeal flavors, but they have some flatbreads that look fabulous!  I'll have to check for their products at my regular grocery store.

One of the things I love at Weight Watchers are the little "charms" you get.  CC makes fun of me over my obsession with gadgets...but it's always nice to get something.

Anyway, my first round with Weight Watchers I ended up with this:

The Key Ring you get when you've lost the first 10 % of your weight. The hands with the 16 on them are when you've reached your first 16 weeks (which supposedly means you are more likely to stick with the plan); the 5K we got for walking a 5K; the star is for reaching goal, the gold key is for Lifetime status and the washer type one you get for every 25 lbs. you lose (I lost 40 total, so only earned one of those).

This time around, it changed just a tad bit.  We got the new key ring for attending 4 out of 5 meetings, which was a special thing WW was doing, you now get it at your 10%:

It comes with the WW charm on it.  The little running guy we got for doing 4 weeks of increase in activity.  It wasn't much for us, but more than we were doing - so it counts.  Technically, I guess we should have the 16 week hands again, but that is just nitpicking; but when I get my 10% this time, I really want it again...as well as any washer.  I'm always considered Lifetime so I don't know if that will happen again or not.  We shall see, but WW is adding new charms all the time.

NEW PRODUCTS

Yesterday while CC and I were shopping, we stopped at ALDI.  ALDI is a discount grocery store where most products are brands you never heard of (just like at Save A Lot).  That can be a turn off for some people without even giving it a chance; but if you're like me where saving money is important then you may want to check out ALDI.

This is only the second time I've been in an ALDI.  Last time I picked up some fruit and veggies for much less than a normal grocery store; this time around I bought some of their Fit & Active products:

(please excuse the photos, I was hurrying)

2 points plus

2 for 4 points plus

1 point plus a slice

I had the waffles this morning for breakfast and they are EXCELLENT, much better than the Special K and Kashi brand ones (that taste like cardboard to me).  I haven't tried the yogurt or cheese yet but I've no doubt they are comparable to other store and name brands.  And they are so much cheaper.

Roni's Weigh has some posts regarding this product visit her post here:  Roni's Q&A On ALDI products and you'll find links to other posts she's done regarding them!

Today CC and I did some shopping and hit a few yard sales.  We did eat lunch out, but we did very well!  We ended up getting the pork & sauerkraut special with mashed potatoes and applesauce.  Since it had very little pork involved in it - it actually turned out to be about 11 points for all - which is less than a sandwich and soup would of cost us and much more filling.

Yay for us!!

TA-DA!!

I actually had a 1/2 pound loss at weigh-in tonight.

Not a lot but much better than a gain.

CC and I are thinking of giving Simple Start a try.

This morning, I left for work, got to the end of the alley and there is a DEER crossing the street.  Now mind you I live in town so it's not a common sight.

I called hubby to tell him and he went outside to see if it was heading in his direction (there's a field along the alley which runs behind the housing).  I went to tell him that I didn't think it was that far as I could see 2 people pointing...I turned my head back and realized there were THREE deer (the others apparently had already crossed the street).  Something spooked them and they headed his way!!  He saw them and one stopped to stare at him before they all headed up the hill to some wooded area.

Hope they all got safely to where they needed to go!
